The Intervention
The Intervention
On the first morning, I fell asleep on the train and woke up about 10 minutes after the train arrived in the station. When I stepped off the train onto the now empty platform, I was immediately astonished by this ethereal beam of sunlight mixed with some mist and smog, creating this sharp geometric composition. I’ve been doing this commute for several years and have never seen anything like this.
I stood there alone like an invisible spectator, watching the beam slowly crawling its way towards the train, and thought to myself “Why do these kind of divine interventions always happen when I don’t have the camera with me?”.
Surprisingly, it was only a short time until the composition began to break.
The only thing I could do was to hope that these incredible conditions would be repeated the next day.
Luckily, they did. I was prepared and exited the train. I waited until all of the passengers had left the platform, pulled my camera out, framed the composition and... the cleaning service arrived! Some of them began to walk towards the end of the train, others drove a kind of ugly golf cart. The picture was ruined.
I realized that there was only a short window of opportunity between the last passenger leaving the platform and the arrival of the cleaners.
The divine intervention gave me one last chance to take this picture on the third day.
